Re-cycling our Waste
Our people are well-trained so that whether they are working in an office, garage, substation or out on an overhead line or underground cable they know what environmental steps are needed to ensure the way they work and the materials they are working with do not harm their surroundings.
We have reduced the amount of waste sent to landfill by encouraging the recycling of items like paper, PPE plastics, aluminium, toner cartridges and corporate clothing.
Where we generate waste our aim is to recycle – just as we endeavour to donate older, surplus computers, office furniture and telephones to needy organisations and charities.
In the last three years we have recycled over 47 tonnes of paper and cardboard and over 32 tonnes of wood. A money-back scheme for cardboard and toner recycling means that an extra £1,000 annually is provided to charities and schools in our operational area.
Our A4 copier paper comes from ecologically responsible sources and as far as possible we are committed to encouraging paperless communication.
